NEW! I'm creating a new series of English classes for biologists!

For the past two years I've been teaching English pronunciation, comprehension, and reading and listening skills every Saturday night on Skype for free. For more information click this link to my blog on my Free English Classes.

The new classes will spend one hour each week discussing some field of biology. We expect to start with a class on bryology. Other classes will include:

Biology in general.

DNA sequencing.

Plant ecology.

Herbaria and plant collecting.

Ornithology.

Plant physiology.

I would gladly compare clases for other fields of biology, or even other topics.

While my main classes are free, this class will have a modest fee for each session. But I have three payment plans: 1) pay me now (cash, check, bank transfer in RMB to my Chinese account, etc.), 2) pay me later (designed for students who cannot afford to pay now, and 3) non-cash agreement where the student agrees to help someone else for free since I allow them to take my class for free.

Need a resume or research paper edited to improve the English? You've come to the right place! I'm a professional field ecologist and botanist specializing in the genus Carex who has years of experience as a writer and editor. If you can write English, but journals are not satisfied with the quality, I can improve it for you. If you can prepare a resume, but you're worried about the quality of your English, we can polish it off for you. Even if you only write in Chinese, we work with a network of translators in mainland China and can translate your Chinese to fluent English. Our colleagues work with a wide variety of clients, so we can handle contracts, business letters, and a wide variety of documents. We can quote rates on request.

Resumes? RMB100-150 and infrequently higher. Complex scientific English research papers? From RMB100 for 250 words, more or less depending on the quality of the original English. Easier or more difficult work including translation? We can quote you a firm price before you commit to using our services.

One might wonder why this page has Chinese characters. The answer is simple. I'm studying China and the Chinese language. My "why Chinese?" link explains why. The pages serve several purposes. As you can see based on the links at left, I have a wide variety of interests.

In the past two years, my use of Chinese has improved. Currently, I'm a full time writer and editor. I work for several companies in China as well as independently. My specialty, botany and ecology, gives me the opportunity to edit the research papers of many Chinese and Japanese scientists. My job is to improve their use of English.

You can also read many things I've written on the internet at the www.ok-english.net website. For example, this is a blog about how to write good English for scientific research papers. It is incomplete, but gives you some basic ideas. This blog tells you about the free English lessons I teach on Skype each week.

* The Sylamore District of the Ozark National Forest is not yet a national park. One of my goals in life is to change that!

** One of the joys of discovery is naming things. China Cave had not been recorded as a cave by the U. S. Forest Service, so I named it in honor of all my Chinese friends when I "discovered" it in November 2011. Others may know about it, but I do not know any former names, so I gave it a new name! The U. S. Forest Service has honored my cave naming so far, so the name will probably stick!
